Welcome to Kemijoki!

Kemijoki and Kemijärvi are known places for catching large pikes. Fishing will mainly happen between Kemijärvi and Pelkosenniemi on a 50-kilometer long area of Kemijoki. The river offers a variety of beaches with it’s large coves and it’s branching nature. The average depth is about 5-6 meters but can reach to more than 10 meters, with a mainly sandy riverbed. The river also has many islands which provide great spots to catch even some of the larger fish. The most common catches are pike, bass and zander. Trout and graylings are however more elusive, being catched from small connecting rivers, although on the flipside pikes are very common and up to 15 kilograms in weight.

Fishing will begin from the beach of Vuostimo, about 35 kilometers north of Kemijärvi and fishing will mainly happen from a SunTracker pontoon boat. The boat fits 3 fishers and the instructor/driver. Any bait will be provided as a part of the experience. The instructor will also provide a lesson in flyfishing.

Fishing Trips

Casting Trip

Casting trips will come in 3 or 6 hour packages, with the 6 hour one coming with a food break. The package includes a guide, local fishing permits, a boat which the guide will drive, safety vests and insurance as well as the aforementioned food break with the 6 hour package.

Rapids Fishing

Rapid fishing will be performed at Loukaskoski in the town of Savukoski, or at Jänkäläisenkoski located in X. Rapid fishing comes in a 6-hour package with a food break, and you can also rent wading equipment.

Ice Fishing

During the winter we can organize ice fishing trips at the Kemijoki river. We will leave from Vuostimo, where we will distribute bait and jigs. We will also check the fishing nets during the trip. If the cold starts biting you, we offer warm drinks and an opportunity to warm by a fire.

Perhokalastus

Flyfishing pike can be an exciting experience, requiring skill and patience. Either boat or car can be taken to the location, and flippers + wading equipment can be rented.
